The Adventure Trail
Play Structure, Suffolk
The Brief
We were asked to create an action packed play area for a parish council in a Suffolk village, to be used by families with children of all ages in the community.
The Result
The adventure play structure flows, encouraging children to be brave, with greater challenges as they move along the trail. Upper body strength, balance, confidence, and imaginative play are all encouraged with this play space. Giving the children ways to continuously challenge themselves as they grow.
There is a soft pour rubber surface for wheelchair and pram access and a ramp coming off this. This allows children who are less able to get up on to the first tree house floor. From there they can decide if they want to scale the woodland bridge!
The sweet chestnut used for this build was from a coppice in the county next door, so the carbon footprint was incredibly low, very satisfying!
All of the wood below ground and bark levels has been treated with 3 coats of bitumen paint and all woodwork above this was treated with 2 coats of UV resistant stain. As always, maintenance was worked into our design and the structure will be revisited annually. A great excuse to come and have another play!
