Chestnut woodland cartlodge

The Brief
To build a cartlodge and timber framed structure to serve a multitude of purposes, including parking cover for the property.
When looking at the client’s requirements in the very first meeting, it quickly became clear that this structure needed to be very big! Usable, sheltered space, with the ability to not feel cramped when parking or moving things in and out on a daily basis.
The Result
We absolutely loved the challenge, it was a great collaboration between the client and ourselves, with a general concept developing into a ‘design & build’ project, allowing the available space within the trees to guide us (while dodging lots of tree roots!)
The finished product is this magnificent timber frame structure. With plastic coated corrugated roof sheets and tantalised stress graded pine joists & rafters. All held up with locally coppiced sweet chestnut posts and braces. The cladding on the walls is tantalised pine and all of the uprights sit on concrete slabs with compacted hardcore underneath.
A truly epic build that we will never forget!
